I am the 1st lipedema lady to get apply for pre-certification through Blue Cross Blue Shield to get approved on the 1st try, I am so excited to be approved, I will have to pay out of pocket first then BCBS will reimburse me 70%. My 1st surgery is on August 29, 2014 in Roswell, Georgia with Dr. Marcia Byrd!

How did you get Blue Cross to cover the procedure?
I got them to cover it by doing all the conservative methods, compression, MLD, bandaging, supplements, exercise, dieting, gastric bypass, seeing Dr Herbst, nothing helped lose the fat, nothing changed my prognosis and was getting worse daily. They decided to cover 6 surgeries for me at 70% and below and I have just submitted for 3 more to finish off my body.

I'd like some information on how your surgery went. I'm looking to get help with my lipedema & have done the conservative measures.
Ahley St. Martin it helped some with the pain and I haven't progressed but I am doing all the conservative methods, I will be having cosmetic skin and tissue removal in the coming years as my body cannot bounce back and recover with all the extra skin,tissue and fibrosis, Dr Byrd is a fabulous surgeon follow me on my lipedema page on facebook called Leigh's Lipedema Journey.
